Preparation of a sheep study with lymphedema 

The next animal study with sheeps is scheduled for January/February 2018. Sheeps with lymphedema will be treated with bioartificial lymph nodes.

Presentation of the book series "Current Therapies in Regenerative Medicine" in Munich

On 25.11.2016 PD Dr. Schantz will present the book series "Current Therapies in Regenerative Medicine" in Munich. The book series in English informs patients and medical professionals about the latest state of research. The third volume "Advances in Regenerative Medicine" will be published by World Scientific in 2017. Further details on the event and registration can be found here.

EXIST-Transfer of Research of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi)

Since October 2016, SENTINEL LIFE receives the 24 month lasting and highly endowed funding program EXIST-Transfer of Research. The funding program EXIST-Transfer of Research (Phase I) supports outstanding research-based start-up projects, involving complex and risky development work. EXIST is a funding program of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) and is co-funded by the European Social Fund.

1. German Lymphday

The hospital Klinikum rechts der Isar of the Technical University of Munich was one of 7 venues of the 1. German Lymphday. The organizer "Verein zur Förderung der Lymphoedemtherapie e.V." informed patients, relatives and medical staff about the clinic picture of the chronic lymphedema. PD Dr. Schantz and Dr. Kwak presented the latest scientific findings on the therapy of chronic lymphedema.

TUM IdeAward 2015

SENTINEL LIFE won the TUM IdeAward 2015 (2nd place) for its scientific technology and economic exploitation potential. The innovation prize is awarded by Technische Universität München in cooperation with UnternehmerTUM and Zeidler-Forschungs-Stiftung.

Dr. Kwak lectured on the use of biomaterials for the regeneration of the lymph system at the 39th Annual Meeting of the German Society of Lymphology (DGL) from 01.10.2015 to 03.10.2015 in Titisee-Neustadt.

PD Dr. Schantz presented the research project of SENTINEL LIFE at the 46th Annual Meeting of the German Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (DGPRÄC) in Berlin.

DGPRÄC course 2015 "Microsurgical lymph node transplantation"

On 10.11.2015 the DGPRÄC-Course "Microsurgical lymph node transplantation" took place in University Hospital Klinikum rechts der Isar of Technische Universität München. For more information, see the brochure of the event. PD Dr. Schantz and Dr. Kwak introduced and practiced existing and new surgical techniques.

Conference in Boston

At the "TERMIS World Congress 2015" on regenerative medicine in Boston, Massachusetts, Dr. Kwak presented the innovative methods of SENTINEL LIFE for the first time in the United States.

1. Study with large animals has begun

A large animal study has begun in Singapore in order to investigate the mode of action of the biomaterials on the lymphatic system.

- 04/2015 -

Small animal study finished

A small animal study under the usage of biomaterials has been finished. Preliminary experimental data show very good regeneration of the lymphatic tissue. Further histological and cytological examinations will follow.
